Job Description

•Engineering team leader for the design, development, specification, validation, testing and commissioning of electrical and control and instrumentation subsystems for the RRNMI Syncrolift® product line, including: electrical power distribution, motor control centers, control room layout, motorized transfer systems, and PLC and PC-based control system hardware and software.
•Working with the shiplift Chief Engineer and Product Manager, manage work scope and priority of assigned engineers consistent with product performance and delivery requirements, budgets and resource constraints to assure the efforts are completed on-time, under-budget, and right-the-first-time.
•Support product strategy development via tradeoff analyses and subsystem designs to improve system design, reliability, manufacturability, and/or reduce manufacturing and life-cycle costs. Leverage lessons learned from prior system designs.
•Conduct engineering analyses, review designs, and plan/implement test programs to ensure the physical and functional requirements are met and verified. Assist in the evaluation and resolution of manufacturing and design conflicts.
•Support Configuration Management and Change Control programs for components, subsystems and systems, including design documentation and data deliverables. Support product safety reviews.
•Support equipment installation, commissioning, system qualification and testing in the factory, at subcontractors, and on-site. Define, update and maintain installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting procedures.
•Support proposals for new contracts and engineering changes.
•Coordinate with appropriate Chief Engineers and project engineers to leverage power system and control system technologies.

Qualifications

Basic:
•B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Engineering, or Computer Science.

•5+ years experience in the design and implementation of electrical power distribution and control/instrumentation systems for large industrial or marine equipment or machinery, including software development for PLCs or HMI.
• U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident

Preferred:
•Working knowledge of synchronous motors, national electrical codes, regulatory, or industry practices applicable to marine or industrial equipment.
•Demonstrated proficiency in PLC and HMI programming, basic computer skills and Microsoft Office.
•Self-motivated, confident individual with strong interpersonal, written and oral communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently with a strong attention to detail.
•Willingness to travel (domestically and internationally) on a scheduled and unscheduled basis.
•Demonstrated understanding of risk and safety management within a quality management framework.
•Comfortable working occasionally in a shipyard environment.
Naval or commercial shipboard or shipyard experience.
•Experience with 2-D or 3-D CAD and electrical system analysis tools.
•Fluent in one or more non-English languages
